Client: Brown University

Brown University’s campus is steeped in history. Now, the walls of Miller and Metcalf Halls display an important part of it. This environmental design highlights important dates and achievements in the life of the Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women. When today’s students head to the residence halls’ common areas, they are literally surrounded—and inspired—by the strong-minded women of Brown’s past.

Plot Twist: This isn’t your grandparents’ kind of timeline or even your parents’. Freed from the corset of a traditional grid, the timeline’s copy and dates form a fluid texture that sets historic photos in context. Plus, the custom vector illustration of Brown’s iconic main gates subtly evokes the University’s welcoming legacy.
